William de Vos is a musician with a significant record of professional musical performance at the highest level. Since 2002 his numerous engagements in New York City, the extended eastern coast of the US, and various other countries overseas, make him stand out a front runner and one of the top players in his field of expertise as a professional musician. William’s musical journey did not begin in this part of the world. Hailing from Australia, his earliest forays into musical performance involved training on instruments such as clarinet, flute and euphonium. However, at the age of fifteen, he was given an opportunity to study the French Horn and soon recognized his life goal of becoming a professional performer on this instrument. He went on to complete a Diploma and a Bachelor of Music in Performance attending the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane, Australia. During this time he enthusiastically pursued his professional aspirations, performing with distinction in a great many and varied engagements of performance, One such highlight was performing with Academy of St. Martin in the fields. Playing rank-and-file as well as principal positions for diverse concert, opera, chamber music, brass ensemble and solo events he regularly performed with the Queensland Symphony, Queensland Philharmonic and Queensland Pops Orchestras. Following his graduation in 2000, William was offered a scholarship to continue post-graduate studies at the State University of New York Purchase College, and traveled to the US to pursue this goal and advance his career opportunities. Here, he further developed his professional performance skills and experience under the tutelage of Erik Ralske (Metropolitan Opera) and Stewart Rose (Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York City Opera, New York City Ballet), graduating in 2002 with a Masters of Music in performance.
William currently fulfills a very active and comprehensive professional career of performance commitments in the Metropolitan New York City region. In this capacity, along with being a member of the New York Scandia Symphony and Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra his performance credits extend to engagements with musical establishments such as the Metropolitan Opera, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera and American Symphony to name just a few. Since 2002 he has additionally been in high demand performing numerous engagements with Broadway shows productions such as Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Follies, On the Town, King and I and Sunset Boulevard.
